Broadford Rovers FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Nugent as the club's new Director of Football.
Paul brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and leadership to the role, having spent more than 35 years coaching at all levels of the game and across all age groups. His extensive qualifications include UEFA B Elite Youth and UEFA Leadership Licences, together with an Honours Degree in Sports Management and Coaching. He also holds a number of scouting qualifications through the Professional Soccer Scouts Association (PSSA).
A familiar face within Broadford Rovers, Paul previously served the club with distinction as both an underage coach and Senior Team Manager. His coaching career has also included a spell with DLR Waves in the Women's National League and as a DDSL representative coach. Most recently, Paul spent 10 years at Park Celtic FC, where he held the positions of Coaching Coordinator and Director of Football, playing a key role in the development of players, coaches and football structures throughout the club. Paul will be supported by Paul Oates, who takes up the role of Coaching Coordinator as part of the club's new football structure.
Speaking following his appointment, Paul Nugent said "I look forward to working with our coaches, players, volunteers and committee to build on the excellent foundations already in place. Together, we will continue to develop a clear football pathway from the Academy through to our senior teams, support the growth and development of our coaches, and provide the best possible environment for all players to enjoy the game and reach their full potential. I'm excited about what the future holds for Broadford Rovers FC."
The club would also like to extend a special word of thanks to Honorary Secretary Liam Kealy and Honorary Treasurer Andrew Corcoran, who were instrumental in implementing this new structure and recruiting both Paul Nugent and Paul Oates. Their commitment, dedication and countless hours of meetings and calls as volunteers played a vital role in bringing this initiative to fruition.
